Overnight at Le Grand Hotel Or Similar | | Day 2 | Djenne | After breakfast, drive Djenne, Timbuktu's ancient sister city, lunch en route. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast Overnight at Hotel Kanaga Or Similar | | Day 3 | Dogon Country | Visit Djenne on its weekly market day, when Djenne is at its colorful best. Stroll around the market stalls, spread out before the magnificent Grand Mosque, which is the world's largest mud brick architecture and one of Unesco's World Heritage sites. In the afternoon, drive to Dogon Country. You will see ancient Tellem cave dwellings in the cliff face; continue to the villages Ireli, Tireli, and Amani, site of a sanctuary for crocodiles which are sacred to the Dogan people. Continue to Mopti, the Venice of Mali, nestle the Niger and the Bani rivers. Mopti city tour including the beautiful mosque, the fishing port and the bustling market. Enjoy a sunset sail on the Niger River in a traditional pirogue. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast Overnight at Hotel Kanaga Or Similar | | Day 6 | Segou | After breakfast, depart Mopti and visit Terekongo, site of a sacred well inhabited by spirits of the Bobo people. Every morning a sacrificial chicken is offered to the spirits to assure the well-being of the village. Continue to Segou. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast Overnight at Hotel Independence Or Similar | | Day 7 | Bamako | Visit Segou, Mali's second largest city and former colonial capital; also visit Sekoro village, the "old Segou" and capital of the Bambara kingdom. See the tomb of King Biton Coulibaly. After lunch, return to Bamako. Enjoy a pirogue ride to better view the many species of cormorrants, pelicans, ducks, flamingos, various songbirds and more. You may also see crocodiles, boas, and wild boars. In the afternoon, visit old colonial Saint Louis city. Overnight in St. Louis.
