Day 1VaranasiVaranasi encapsulates the best of colourful India. Hinduism's holiest city sprawls along the banks of the river Ganges in a maze of narrow alleyways.
Day 2Sunrise boat trip/SarnathTake a boat ride on the Ganges when it is at its atmospheric best - at sunrise. Shrouded in mist and flooded in golden light, the bathing ghats come alive as thousands of devotees perform puja to the rising sun. Spend the afternoon at the ruins of Sarnath, where Buddha performed his first sermon.
Days 3-4 VaranasiEnjoy a full day at leisure to explore the city of Varanasi independently. This is one the world's most ancient places, and the old city is a colourful maze of winding streets and alleys filled with fascinating shops and local characters.
