Learn ancient legends at Yourambulla Cavees, a significant Aboriginal art site. | | Day 3 | Iga Warta Aboriginal Community | Visit magnificent Wilpena Pound to wander through 130 million years of geographic history then enjoy warm Aboriginal hospitality and hear a few dreamtime stories. | | Day 4 | Oodnadatta track | Follow the history camel route and old Ghan Railway out into the desert and visit the Arabunna Aboriginal Centre to learn about weapons, culture and local history. Cross the dingo fence and down an ice-cold beer in an outback pub. | | Day 5 | Coober Pedy | Explore the underground world of Coober Pedy and its opal mines. | | Day 6 | Simpson Desert | Head into one of Australias most remote and arid regions, an area of stark beauty and remarkable contrasts. | | Days 7-8 | Uluru | Cut through the heart of the continent and prepare to be wowed by the sight of Uluru. Hike around the rock to find out about its spiritual important and admire how the changing light affects its colours. | | Day 9 | Kata Tjuta & The Olgas | Hike the fabulous Valley Of The Winds before another evening spent camping under the stars among red sand dunes and desert oaks. | | Day 10 | Kings Canyon | Sandstone domes, towering cliffs and refreshing rockpools are the highlights of a Kings Canyon hike. Stand in a huge comet crater and maybe go in search of the elusive Thorny Devil. | | Day 11 | Western MacDonnell Ranges/Alice Springs | Delve into local art history or take part in a crafts workshop at the Araluen Centre. |
